Later she brought the cushion over and I had a chance to see it up close in person. I decided to buy it right there and then.
A week or so later, this lovely VDL Beauty Metal Cushion in M101 was mine. All mine.

Yes, that's right.
In traditional cushions, the foundation saturated sponge is exposed. You simply press the sponge with the applicator and then pat pat pat on your face.
In a metal cushion, the spongey part is covered by a metal plate with tiny holes.

For me, not so much. The cushion is about to find a new, more appropriate home.
I am heartbroken, because the color is perfect.

The finish is not dewy, and not glowy (only in artificial light), and not satiny, and not matte. It's radiant, but natural, with medium to heavy-duty cover. Applied in the morning stayed in place all day long.
If Estee Lauder Double Wear Light had a younger, fuller, radiant, fresh and more natural sister, VDL Beauty Metal Cushion would be it.
