Use Benton products at your own risk.
Due to frequent quality control issues with Benton products (they are under-preserved) and the attitude the company takes when said issues are brought to its attention, I am going to pass on Benton.
Any Benton samples I get with other online purchases immediately land in the garbage.
I don't understand why so many beauty bloggers refuse to admit if the product they are reviewing came as a freebie, or if they bought it themselves. What's the big deal?
I learned to read between the lines of some blog posts, and I stopped reading certain blogs altogether. Because, seriously, what's the point? I want an honest opinion, and not a fake "great" review.
And seriously, what's the big deal in stating clearly "hey, I got this product for review purposes." See? It wasn't that hard.
And if you are notorious for writing fake reviews (like certain Polish beauty bloggebrities I stopped reading, but still follow on Instagram for amusement purposes), you don't even have to add that "but the opinions presented are my own."
There are also bloggers that prefer to buy a product, even though a company offers them stuff for free, because they want to be as unbiased as possible. Fanserviced is one of those bloggers, and even though we have different tastes in skincare, I love reading her very in-depth (and very entertaining too!) reviews.
OK, but where was I?
Ah yes, freebies.
Nie rozumiem dlaczego dla tak wielu blogerek kosmetyczno-urodowych przyznanie sie do faktu, ze dany produkt otrzymaly w ramach wspolpracy jest tak niesamowicie trudnym zadaniem. Skad ten problem?
Wiele recenzji czytam pomiedzy liniami, a niektore blogi przestalam czytac calkowicie. No bo po co? Ja oczekuje rzetelnych informacji, a nie przyklaskiwania firmie od ktorej pochodzi dany kosmetyk.
I naprawde nie wiem skad taki problem aby napisac "ten produkt recenzuje w ramach wspolpracy."
I jesli twoje recenzje to laurki dla firm sponsorujacych, nie musisz nawet dodawac, ze "ale opinie tu przedstawione sa moje."
Sa tez blogerki, ktore wola kupic dany produkt, pomimo iz firmy oferuja im kosmetyki za darmo. Robia to aby ich recenzje byly jak najbardziej z punktu widzenia zwyklego klienta, a nie blogera na lasce dzialu PR.
Fanserviced jest wlasnie taka blogerka, i choc mamy zupelnie inne upodobania kosmetyczne, to czytam jej recenzje z ciekawoscia.
Ale wracamy do tematu.

Today I am going to review a freebie.
I admit, I would have never purchased this product on my own. Why?
One word.
Benton.
After following the Benton drama in 2014 (contaminated products and a less than stellar company response), I decided to steer clear of all things with the Benton label. Just to be safe.
Yet them innertubes raved with wild enthusiasm and bubbled with excitement whenever a Benton product was mentioned. "Holy grail," they said. "Saved my skin," they said.
So, needles to say, I was curious. Very curious.

Dlaczego?
Jedno slowo.
Benton.
Sledzilam caly dramat bentonowy w zeszlym roku (skazone produkty i malo zachecajace zachowanie firmy), i postanowilam trzymac sie od Bentona z daleka. Tak dla bezpieczenstwa.
Ale trzeba by byc slepym i zyc pod kamieniem w innej galaktyce, aby nie wpasc w sieci na zachwycajace recenzje kosmetykow pielegnacyjnych spod znaku Benton.
"Kosmetyk wszechczasow" jedni pisza. "Uratowalo moja cere" pisza inni.
Wiec to oczywiste, ze bylam ciekawa. Bardzo ciekawa.
But then there was this small detail of snail secretion filtrate. The way it's harvested is as far from ethical treatment of animals as you can get.
And one more detail. I had tried a snail product in the past and had a nasty reaction. But whether it was due to the snail stuff, or other ingredients, that I really don't know.
But I was curious.
I wouldn't be me if I wasn't.
So when Jolse offered me this Benton Aloe BHA Skin Toner for review purposes, I thought "now, here's my chance to find out for myself what this thing is and what it does."
I've had it for almost a month now and I am ready to give you my honest, unbiased opinion.
Bylo jeszcze jedno male "ale". Kwestia sluzu slimaka. Sposob w jaki jest on zbierany na skale przemyslowa jest tak daleki od humanitarnego traktowania zwierzat, ze juz dalej byc nie moze.
I jeszcze jedno "ale". Probowalam slimaczego produktu juz w przeszlosci i mialam malo przyjemna reakcje. Ale czy sluz byl tego przyczyna, czy moze inne skladniki, tego nie jestem pewna.
Oczywiste wiec, ze bylam bardzo ciekawa. Taka moja natura.
Wiec kiedy Jolse zaoferowalo mi butelke Benton Aloe BHA Skin Toner do recenzji, pomyslalam sobie "no w koncu, teraz i ja bede mogla sprawdzic na wlasnej skorze co to za cudo."
Mam ja juz niemal od miesiaca i teraz czas na moja opinie. Bez lukru i lizustwa.
The 200 ml bottle came sealed in clear plastic.
A bilingual (English and Korean) instruction manual on a separate piece of paper was scotch taped to the back.
It told you to apply the product on a clean face either with your hand, or with a cotton pad, and wait until fully absorbed into the skin. It warned you not to attempt to put any leftover, unused lotion from your hand back into the bottle. (duh! people really do that?)
It also provided the url of the manufacturer's home page.

The front of the bottle has a short blurb about the toner, claiming that it's suitable for all skin types, including sensitive and trouble prone. It proudly states that instead of water, it contains aloe leaf extract as its main ingredient. And oh yeah, that snail secretion filtrate and BHA.
BHA in this case means salicylic acid.
Salicylic acid for all skin types?
Really?
The full ingredient list was printed on the back. In English.
Na przodzie butelki widnieje krotki opis tonera, wraz z zapewnieniem, ze jest to produkt nadajacy sie do wszystkich rodzajow cer, w tym rowniez wrazliwych i sklonnych do wypryskow. Jest tez dumna informacja, ze kosmetyk ten zawiera ekstrakt z lisci aloesu zamiast wody jako glowny skladnik. O, i jest tez wzmianka o sluzie slimaka i BHA.

When you unscrew the cap (seriously? a screw cap? what century is this? a snap flip top please! This is 2015!), you can see that the bottle opening is protected by a silver seal:

The toner itself is a clear, but slightly viscous (but just a tiny bit, enough to tell it's not water) liquid without any discernible smell.
Sam toner jest przezroczystym plynem, ale ciut bardziej gestszym niz woda. Nie wyczulam zadnego silnego zapachu.
Supposedly there is also a version with a spray pump out there. Or maybe it exists only in Benton's PR promo photos. Who knows?
It absorbs in record time and leaves no sticky residue.
Ponoc istnieje tez wersja ze sprayem. Ale byc moze to tylko tak, zeby lepiej wygladalo na PRowskich zdjeciach.
Toner wchlania sie ekspresowo i nie pozostawia po sobie nic.
And here it gets funky.
I have dry, sensitive skin. The label says "for all skin types".
NOT!!!
Benton Aloe BHA Skin Toner dried me out to the point of tears. My skin screamed and begged for moisture. Salicylic acid and dry skin do not mix.
I tutaj sprawa sie komplikuje.
Ja mam sucha, wrazliwa cere. Opis producenta twierdzi, ze "dla wszystkich rodzajow."
Nieprawda!
Benton Aloe BHA Skin Toner wysuszyl mnie tak bardzo, ze niemal bylam bliska placzu. Moja skora krzyczala o nawilzenie. Uczucie bylo prawie bolesne.
Kwas salicylowy i sucha skora to zle polaczenie.
But...
If you have oily skin. If you have trouble prone skin. If you have combination skin, this is a toner for you.
I gave it to my friend with oily / combination skin and she fell in love.
Her skin has never looked better, and trust me, we use a crapload of different skincare products.
I heard her say "holy grail" and "saved my skin."
No joke. She has made it through the holidays without a single zit. Her oily, breakout prone face looks totally under control. Her skin looks fresh, clear and satiny. She's become a Benton convert.

Jesli masz tlusta cere. Jesli masz cere sklonna do wypryskow. Jesli masz cere mieszana, to ten toner jest zdecydowanie w sam raz dla ciebie.
Oddalam swoja butelke mojej kolezance z taka wlasnie cera (tlusta / mieszana) i zakochala sie od pierwszego uzycia.
Jej twarz nigdy chyba tak dobrze nie wygladala, a uwierz mi, my kochamy mazidla wszelkiego rodzaju i uzywamy badzo wielu.
"Kosmetyk wszechczasow" stwierdzila. "Uratowal moja twarz" dodala.
I wcale nie zartowala. Caly okres swiateczno-noworoczny przeszla bez zadnego wyprysku. Jej tlusta cera jest calkowicie pod kontrola. Jej twarz wyglada czysto, przejrzyscie, satynowo, wzorowo. Zostala bentonowa konwertytka.
So while Benton Aloe BHA Skin Toner is not a product for me, I have to admit that every face is different and has different needs.
And if you are looking for a bit of extra help to bring your oily / combination skin under control, I have a feeling you will love this toner.
